Because of Lot

TEXT: Genesis 19:1-22

AIMS:
*To demonstrate how things were altered because of the man Lot.
*To help us see how God dealt with the people because of the man Lot.
*To let us see how many persons could enjoy the privilege because of a single person Lot.
*To help us to live lives that would make great things happen to our families, churches, communities and nation because of us.

INTRODUCTION
When God asked Abraham to leave his country and country men and go to a land he would show him, Abraham took his brother's son or nephew (Lot) with him. They lived together until their animals became too many and their servants began to fight among themselves. Abraham amicably resolved that problem by the famous statement "let there be no quarrel between us-behold we are brethren" Later lot was taken captive alongside his goods and household. Abraham put together 318 servants and Lot was rescued. It was not only Abraham, but even the angels reversed their decision because of Lot.

1. Abraham was informed of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 18:16-20)
   • He pleaded for the city to be spared because of Lot his nephew.
   • He remembered their family bond.
   • He put away the past quarrel
   • Lot's life was important
   • He took risk to speak to the angles because of Lot.
2. The Angles arrived in Sodom and choose to sleep on the street because of the horrible immorality in the city (Genesis 19:1-3)
   • Lot persuaded them to stay in his house, because of him they change their decision.
   • Lot sacrificed his two daughters to make sure the Angels were not harmed (Genesis 19:4-8)
   • Lot went out to beg the men. (Genesis 19:19)
   • The men were struck with blindness (Genesis 19:10-11)
     
     
3. Lot's relatives were included in the saving mission (Genesis 19:12-13)
   • Because of Lot his kindred's relatives were included in the saving mission.
   • His in-laws could be saved because of him.
   • The grace reached them because of Lot.
     
     
4. The Angels became concerned because of Lot (Genesis 19:1-17)
   • The angels were concerned about Lot; because of him, they had to quit him by force to leave the city.
   • For the first time in the scripture, heavenly being compel human to carry out a divine order because they knew the disastrous consequences. (Genesis 19:16)
     
     
5. The Angels granted a request because of Lot (Genesis 19:18-21)
   
   • Because of Lot the angels changed their decision.
   • The permitted him to run to a nearby city.

What has happened because of you and I?

• To your family, how do people regard your family because of you? What name have they given your family because of you and I?
• Because of you and I how do people regard the church of God that He gave his precious Son's blood to purchase?
• Can Haven or God change a decision because of you and I? Check it out; are you a bad influence or good one where you find yourself?
• Can Angels agree to stay in your house or mine if they pay a visit to this present evil world? Are we sure we don't consult other gods, have other altars, and have charm in our houses under our beds. Can angels agree to stay in our houses?
• Because of you and I, how does God feel when you are present in a place, formerly decisive groups, tribalism, putting "Son of the soil" in the kingdom of God?
• Because of you and I, Jesus Christ died on the cross to save us. If we are Christians, do we bring shame to Him or glorify Him?

CONCLUSION

As non Christian the devil is happy and because of you he is destroying the world until you stand up for him? If you have not yet repented and been baptized, then the devil is rejoicing and glad because of you. Do you want heaven to sing because of you? Do you want God to release legions of Angels because of you; then accept him today through water baptism?
