Scripture of the week

Text: Joshua 24:14-15

INTRODUCTION:
A Successful man or woman in any nature of business will show a high sense of commitment to succeed very well. Commitment, therefore means dedication to a cause, activity, promise and obligations.

For instance;

  • A trader gets committed in his or her trading to make gains.
  • A carpenter commits himself to his work to attract more customers.
  • A class room teacher is always happy when his or her pupils are committed to their studies.
  • A farmer commits his or her self in farming to have good harvest.

The topic "My Commitment with God", has to do with our faith and works as Christians whose aim is to be in Heaven. This is why we are gathered to receive the guidelines on what to do and what not to do.

To commit oneself with God is very simple and also very hard due to so many reasons. The truth is to wholly commit oneself to God and make Heaven. How can we commit ourselves to God? Fear God and serve him sincerely (Joshua 24:14).

  • To fear God. Do you fear God?
  • To serve God with sincerity. Are you the type that comes today and tomorrow you go elsewhere? Matt. 6:24 says no man can serve two Masters; can you?

Joshua exalted God for his protection and great victory remembering what he passed through and saw. He finally said, As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. What about you? Committing with God is demanding but very rewarding. The demands are;

  • It will require your time.
  • It will require your means.
  • It will require your strength.

Somebody gave God these services and was greatly rewarded (Isaiah 38:1-7), God remembered Hezekiah and gave him additional years to live even when he was to die due to sickness. This can also be your potion if you serve God with fear, sincerity and truth. In Isaiah 55:6-7 God says "Seek ye the Lord while he may be found". He is here willing to receive you. It is not yet late to commit oneself to God. Finally, Apostle Paul wrote to you and I that we should not be weary in doing good things for in due season we shall reap if we faint not (Gal. 6:9).

CONCLUSION:
Don't regret if you have committed yourself to God, your reward is there; if you have not, wait no more. Now is the time to commit yourself to God. The difference will be clear.

GOD BLESS YOU!
